I never understood why someone would want to know how to make a pencil in an emergency situation… then Kirsten effortlessly made a set of pencils while casually cooking a rabbit over the fire and quite literally spelled it out for us all to see.  Watch now to learn the top reasons why you need to know this skill.  Even if you don’t live near a desert or EVER plan to be in one!  This skill can be applied to nearly any survival situation.

The chapter above is taken directly from Survival HD – How To Survive The Harsh Environments of High Desert and Low Mountains.

Please share this page with someone you know, who would benefit from this knowledge!

  1. Old Drill Instructors & Survival School Cadre never had the humor or presence of Kirsten . . . I’ll be showing these tips to our inwPrep.com group and more. I’ve lived in the Colorado high plains desert, and can see that this is way more than a Desert Survival DVD. We just gave a map reading and Land Nav course (your DVD on that was helpful, thanks!) in North Idaho and the char pencil could have been incorporated into the workshop, too!
Keep up the great work; thanks!

    1. Hey Russ, Thanks for your great feedback! I can’t wait for you to get a copy of this in your own hands, she truly knocks it out of the park! Hopefully when I’m back in northern Idaho, I’ll be able to attend one of your workshops.

      Stay well!
